Mario and Sonic is one of the UK's top selling games of 2008

Kotaku have posted a list of the UK's top-selling games of 2008. All the "predictables" are on there, such as GTA IV and COD5, but Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games have beaten all of them by becoming the UK's fifth best-selling game.

The game was released almost a year ago and has consistently placed in the Top 20 ever since. It continues to defy logic and taste by remaining a top-seller, along with Nintendo's Wii and Brain Training series.

Here is the Top 10 list:
  1. Mario Kart Wii
  2. Wii Fit
  3. Wii Play
  4. Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training
  5. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii)
  6. GTA IV (360)
  7. GTA IV(PS3)
  8. Call of Duty: World at War (360)
  9. Carnival Funfair (Wii)
  10. FIFA 09 (360)
The casual gaming revolution has clearly destroyed the games industry. I'm sure 1998's best-sellers were almost all quality games, rather than the 90% shovel-ware we see today. Oh well.
