Ringedge and Ringwide arcade boards showcased in Japan

Recently, a trademark application for "Ringwide" and "Ringedge" was filed by Sega, sparking rumours that they were returning to the console business. The trademarks applied to both arcade hardware and home consoles.

Today Sega have shown off their new arcade hardware, entitled Ringwide and Ringedge, at the AOU Show in Japan. The first game to use the new technology will be Border Break, a robot fighting game.

Both boards have online capabilities, with parts from Intel and Nvidia. Although this announcement has confirmed the boards' existence, it hasn't yet confirmed whether the technology will be used in home consoles. We can still hope!
